A Big Problem
Can you believe that it is too difficult to sync various Mac computers together? I use an iMac at home and a MacBook Air while travelling, both sharing the same data. Why cannot the bright people come up with ONE solution where I just need to select everything what I want to be synced?
Do you want to sync your data without sharing it with someone else? I don’t like the idea to use a public available cloud storage to sync my private data.
I believe that data syncing software should be as simple as it is possible. That is I why I have started working on this application. Existing data syncing applications are wrong. They are too complex to manage, to setup, to run. I JUST want to sync my data and make it available on any device that I use, anywhere.
iSynchronize is a unique simple solution for syncing all kinds of data from any kind of application for Mac Os X. It syncs your files and folders based on their content, modification dates and their paths in the Mac OS X.
Why do you need an account?
Your user account provides identification in the iSynchronize network. All your data and files are encrypted with your unique encryption key. Without this key no one else will be able to read your data during the sync operations.
We do not use any cloud services for syncing your data but we require you to create your personal account for your safety and security.
We are keeping only your name, email address, encrypted password, your client names and login dates on our accounts server.
We will not share your email addresses because we hate spam as much as you do!
How does it work?
If you need to sync data between all your Macs all you need to do is to install the same application on all your Macs. After installing and launching the application it will discover its neighbors in the local network and will start syncing session automatically.
You can add any folders and the application will start syncing them straight away. If you modify any of your synced files or folders, the application will sync and share your changes automatically between all available Macs. If one of the clients is not available at the moment the application will remember those changes and it will sync them later.
You can add your files to sync queue by dragging and dropping your files, by selecting your files with Open Panel, or by using shortcut CMD+SHIFT+S in any Finder window.
You can remove your files from sync queue at any time by selecting according preference in sync window and pressing minus button or pressing CMD+Backspace shortcut.
What about network?
It syncs your files only over the local network. We are not using cloud storage for syncing your data! No data is leaving your local network during the sync.
If your network connection will go down, application will hold unsynced items in it’s database. Once the network connection will become available the application will resume synchronisation process automatically.
What about syncing speed?
Syncing speed depends on your network connection speed. Wi-Fi network speeds are much slower then LAN network speeds. Do not expect to sync all your songs and movies collection in 10 minutes or less. It is not possible by technical limitations!
What about any other limitations?
There are no limitations on the files and folders sizes. But keep in mind that it takes a long time to index all your huge files and it will take much more time to transfer all your data over the network.
You will see a working indicator during each operation therefore you will be informed about every activity of the application.
What about user experience?
The application has been designed according to Apple Human Interface Guidelines therefore iSynchronize gives you the most natural Mac OS X experience for syncing your data. It simply works.
The application is using the latest technologies available in Mac OS X Lion and your Macs. It is utilising the power of software and hardware and delivering results while working in the background without any need to interrupt you.
